Re: Press Release UPDATE LUCAS DEYOUNG ARRESTED

On 02-15-18 at about 9:38pm Pacific Time, Lucas DeYoung was taken into custody by the Nevada State Highway Patrol on the Curry County and FBI warrants for his arrest. DeYoung was lodged in the Humboldt County Jail in Winnemucca Nevada.

On 02-15-18 at about 12:15pm, the Curry County Sheriff’s Office received information from a concerned citizen that DeYoung was calling and harassing them and through some investigative leads, it was determined that DeYoung was either in Utah or Nevada. Dispatch started notifying all law enforcement agencies in those areas to attempt to locate DeYoung.

The Nevada Highway Patrol saw a vehicle with Virginia plates parked alongside the road on I-80 near milepost 164 in Nevada with a male sleeping in the driver’s seat. The NHP contacted the person inside who fit the description provided by the FBI warrants as DeYoung. The driver initially gave a different name but it was determined that the driver was in fact Lucas DeYoung and he was taken into custody without incident. The NHP did a search of the car and located several guns, ammunition and body armor. DeYoung was then transported to the Humboldt County Jail and lodged on their local charges of Felon in Possession of Firearms. DeYoung was also lodged on the Curry County and FBI warrants for Attempted Aggravated Murder, Attempted Murder, Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution and Unlawful Manufacture of Marijuana.

The Curry County Sheriff’s Office has been working aggressively with the FBI, Brookings Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies to locate and arrest Lucas DeYoung for his involvement in the William Terebesi shooting on December 28, 2017. The Curry County District Attorney will be working with the State of Nevada on the return of DeYoung to Oregon.

Murder suspect extradited to Oregon

The third and final suspect in the October killing of a Crescent City man was at last brought to custody in Josephine County this weekend.

Marshall McKenna, 24, was arraigned Monday afternoon in Grants Pass, charged with four felonies for his alleged his role in the killing of Roger Huntington, 43 late last year.

Investigators say McKenna and two accomplices, all from Texas, shot Huntington to death at the Lake Selmac boat ramp outside Cave Junction in a drug deal gone bad.

McKenna is charged with aggravated murder, first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, and unlawful use of a weapon. He was arrested in Mexico following a months-long nationwide manhunt and booked into Laredo County (texas) Jail, just north of the border, on April 2.

On Friday, he was transported to Oregon, where he is held without bail.

McKenna's accomplices Carroll "BJ" Ballard, 20, and Blake Sibley, 22, were both arrested within days of finding Huntington's bullet-riddled body inside his truck on Oct. 23.

Ballard was sentenced last month to 15 years in an Oregon prison after pleading guilty to first-degree robbery and manslaughter. Sibley pleaded guilty in March to similar charges and was sentenced to 10 years in an Oregon prison.

Sibley's defense lawyer, Dan Simcoe, said his client was unaware of the Ballard and McKenna's intentions to try to rob Huntington instead of paying for the several pounds of marijuana agreed upon in their transaction.

Investigators say McKenna was the triggerman and advised the public to consider him armed and dangerous during the manhunt

McKenna's attorneys, Eve Oldenkamp and Elizabeth Baker, of Klamath Falls and Eugene respectively, could not be reached for comment Monday afternoon.

Lisa Turner of the Josephine County District Attorney Office said McKenna's next hearing is June 3 in Josephine County Circuit Court.
